| Born to a Hispanic Santera and a Hopi artist, Gregory Lomayesva, still a
young artist has achieved great recognition for his wood sculptures and
paintings. His masks and sculptures draw on his background, but he
clearly uses poetic license to add his own abstract designs. These are
not kachinas, but they are inspired by Hopi designs. The shapes are
Hopi, but everything else comes from his imagination.
