Richard L. Casey |
|
|
| The Berkshire Mountains
of Massachusetts influenced Richard L. Casey greatly as he grew up
in the midst of that well-established artistic haven and from an
early age his talent was evident. Officials at the Berkshire Art
Museum were so impressed they sponsored art lessons for him at no
charge before Casey's formal training continued at The Art Center in
Los Angeles and at UCLA. As with many artists, Casey first applied
his exceptional talents to a mainstream career thriving as a
successful architect in California. However, it was his pure
artistic longings that won out. |

|
| First concentrating on
intaglio and serigraphy Casey returned to the East Coast and
remodeled an old paper mill into a studio where he began
developing original techniques for paper-making. As his
paper works grew larger and more complex in form, drying
time became an issue but rather than downscaling his art
Casey relocated to the drier climate of the desert
southwest. And so the inspiration of this devoted artist
became the craggy, raw and majestic mountains of the desert. |

|
|
| Casey pieces
became bold, jutting and powerful offering intricate technique to
canvasses that strain to encompass the dimension that has come to
define the artist's work. Casey's eye for texture and color inspires
contemporary lines that are at once calm and invigorating, elegant
and daring. His work demands inspection. His collectors are people
and corporations from every corner of the world. Casey's canvases
are timeless.
